Discover the magic of London

The Harry Potter books have taken an important place in the lives of millions of people around the world since 1997, more than 450 million copies sold, translated into 74 languages, video games, gadgets, and especially eight films successful. Here's what today is Harry Potter. London, the capital of the United Kingdom, is a very important city in the world of Harry Potter. Even today, two years after the release of the last film, there are many references to the magical world of Harry Potter.

Platform 9 ¾ at King's Cross Station

Let's start with the place where all the magic trips Harry and his friends begin and end: the King's Cross station on Euston Road. This is the Platform 9 ¾ students through their luggage carts to board the Express Poulard. At King's Cross today you will find a cart half stuck in the wall and a charming small sign that reads "Platform 9 ¾".

Diagon Alley in Leadenhall Market

Located in the City of London, Leadenhall Market is a beautiful Victorian market with many varied shops. This market hall was the setting in Diagon Alley where Harry buys his school supplies sorcerer's apprentice as his first wand. Open from 7:00 until late afternoon from Monday to Friday, sellers of Leadenhall Market are cheesemakers, butchers and florists - unfortunately there is no Leaky Cauldron as in books or in movies.

Gringotts and the Australian Embassy

In the Harry Potter books, is the Gringotts Wizarding Bank which is run by gnomes. It is a large building with a snow-white that is deemed to be a very safe place. In reality, it is the Australian Embassy on Strand Street which was used for filming movies. The scenes in the great hall of the bank were shot in the lobby of the Embassy but unfortunately you need a good reason to get in otherwise access will be denied. Nevertheless, you'll recognize the beautiful façade of Australia House because that is exactly the same as in the movie "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone."

The Great Hall and Hagrid's hut to Leavesden Studios

A must-see attraction for all Harry Potter fans visiting London is the studio round Harry Potter Leavesden Studios, where all eight films were shot. After filming completed, the plates were transformed into an enormous circuit which is open to visitors today. Barely 30 km from the heart of London, just visit the studio round Harry Potter and explore the original sets of Dumbledore's office, Hagrid's hut, the Great Hall and much more. You will also discover many costumes and props from the movie and a café where you can enjoy the famous butterbeer.
