Today I decided to write a little article on how to get to the United States. Personally, I have not yet had the chance to go on this fabulous continent, but I know that the United States will undoubtedly left an upcoming trip.Prejudice or not, I have always believed that going to the United States was a real administrative headache. I decided to do a few research on my own to try to see more clearly.

VISA

First, a caveat regarding the visa, it is no longer required to visit the United States for a tourist trip, for a business trip or for transit. It is indeed a must, but most do not make it easy to return to the United States. Indeed you must bring with you:
  • A biometric passport or electronic
  • An ESTA
  • Airfare round trip or cruise ticket.
  • Your stay must not exceed 90 days
  • A Proof of solvency (credit card, traveler's checks)
You will need to obtain a student visa if you plan to travel to the United States to study.
VISA is valid for 10 years.

The passport

The Passport is a mandatory document for travel to the United States. As you know there are several kind of passport. We'll see, depending on the passport, whether or not, VISA.

The ESTA form

ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) is required to be completed online by any French citizen in preparation for his trip to the USA form. It helps to have upstream of the trip, an input to the USA under the VWP (Visa Waiver Program, replacing the traditional "green leaf") permission. Among the information included full names, passport number, country of residence ...
The ESTA form or Electronic System for Travel Authorization is a mandatory form to get in on American soil. Formerly called "green leaf" ESTA is a form to fill out online or on site American government or on many other sites that will offer to help you in this process.
This form is required if:
  • You are of French nationality (or other member countries the Visa Waiver program)
  • Traveling to the United States for a period of less than 90 days
  • You are in transit on American soil to reach another country
  • You arrive on American soil by air or sea
Note that this form is mandatory for everyone, even children. This is not required if:
  • You enter the United States by land
  • You are in possession of a VISA
The form costs $ 14 and is valid for two years or until your passport expires.
Each new application you will free yourself from the tax of 14 dollars.
The form must be filled no later than 72 hours before departure. If your form expire once on American soil, it is not necessary to do it again. The form must be valid on the date of arrival and not on the date of return.
When asked about the site you have, in general, the answer very quickly.
