For the new edition of Scotland , our authors have been working to uncover all that the country offers new, fresh and ran. Here is the list of what has us most excited.

1 Riverside Museum

In Glasgow, on the banks of the Clyde in full restoration, this magnificent building now houses the collections of the former Museum of Transport. Designed by British architect Zaha Hadid of Iraqi origin, the Riverside Museum is an extraordinary building, wearing a sinuous metal roof suggesting waves, echoing the historical relationship of the city with shipbuilding. The Glenlee, three-masted ship built in 1896, is now anchored in front. These vehicles of yesteryear are in context with the recreation, charming, a shopping street in Glasgow of the early twentieth century.

Closed for two years, the main Edinburgh museum reopened in 2011 after extensive renovations that have allowed it to expand its exhibition space and have restored the Grand Gallery to its original Victorian splendor.
With its golden stone and modern architecture, the new museum building, opened in 1998, is one of the most amazing sights of the city. Five stories trace the history of Scotland, geological beginnings to the 1990s, using an inventive and exciting museum. Audio guides are available in several languages.
This new building communicates with the original Victorian Museum (former Royal Museum), dating from 1861, whose exterior hides a cold gray imposing hall, lit by a skylight. Here, an eclectic collection covers natural history, archeology, scientific and industrial technologies, and decorative arts from ancient Egypt, Islam, China, Japan, Korea and the West.

The admission ticket allows access to the picturesque Burns Cottage, connected to the Birthplace Museum by a path lined with sculptures. The poet was born in the small bed in this tiny cottage and spent the first seven years of his life. This beautiful place will allow you to put the artist in context. The walls are adorned with some words of Scottish agricultural jargon he used so readily.

The most recent (and most remote) establishment of the Isle of Skye was a great success with his dishes using fresh local produce (some grown in a nearby field) and concerts. Far away on the crest of a glen, 1.5 km from the main road, this old barn (two hundred fifty) restored is a paradise where one can savor coffee and pastries, as well as good island cuisine. At lunch (12h-15h), seafood, game and cheese served with a salad sprinkled with edible flowers coming from the garden next door. Add to that music evenings, and you will understand why the address is locally unanimously.
